Reflection
This year Spanish 3 has gone ok for me because there were a lot of challenges. At first I was struggling because I didn't learn as much as I could have in spanish 2. This was due to unstructured online learning at the end of Spanish 2. Not learning as much as I could have caused me to have to put a lot of extra effort into learning the things I didn't already know. The other aspect of Spanish 3 that I have struggled in is having this class fully online. Having class fully online gives me room to slack and/or not do the work to my best ability. At first this happened more often than not until I realized by doing this I am only hurting myself. When I realized this I began to put my fullest effort into class and I also started setting myself up a time frame to complete the assignments so there is no room for me to slack and I have the ability to complete the assignment to the best of my abilities without having to rush. Throughout the course of Spanish 3 I learned a lot of things the most impacting to me was about the culture. The culture made me realize that not every country has the same living conditions and luxuries as people in the US and other countries. In the book el ekeko the main character is 15 and has a almost full time job as a shoe shiner. The main character is also from the less fortunate part of Bolivia. SInce he is from the less fortunate part his family doesn't have much money. I also got the opportunity to watch a very short video about mining in Bolivia. The video was about the danger and issues with mining in Bolivia. To me this was crazy because some parts seem like the shouldnt be allowed; such as forcing the miners to chew on coca leaves to curb hunger and numb the senses. The miners do this for very little pay at the price of the possibility of losing their lives. This made me realize how fortunate I am to live where I live and have access to the things I have access to; such as a safe job that pays well and not having to worry about or work at such a young age. My biggest success in Spanish 3 was growing my knowledge of the Spanish language and culture. This is a success because learning about the culture is helpful if I would want to live somewhere besides the US I know what I would see and be a part of. Learning the language was a success because I have learned more this year in spanish than I have in the last few years of spanish. The spanish that I have learned will also one day help me be successful in the real world whether it's in a career or life in general. My goal is to continue to learn more spanish and one day be semi fluent in spanish so I can read, speak and understand the language better. My short term goal is to make sure to pass the second semester of spanish. I also want to take and do well in Spanish 4.
